Language is imprecise, and people are imperfect. These are guidelines for our community, not a legal code. Follow the spirit of these rules instead of trying to lawyer excuses for bad behavior.
Assume good faith of your neighbors. Take time to understand where they're coming from before arguing. Let's build each other up.
Treat everyone with respect. Absolutely no harassment, witch hunting, sexism, racism, or hate speech will be tolerated. These are antithetical to building an accepting community.
Keep it PG-13-ish. As we (and the Nowhereverse) grow, we may add an adults-only section. Until then, assume there are minors present.
Avoid spam or excessive self-promotion (server invites, advertisements, etc) without permission from a staff member. This includes DMing fellow members. Talking about what you're working on is great; hijacking or overwhelming other conversations is not.
If you see something against the rules or something that makes you feel unsafe, let staff know. A safe space means that everyone is free to be themselves.
Be careful with jokes. Not everyone takes jokes the same way all the time. Some people have history with some jokes, and some people are just having a bad day. If a joke rubs you the wrong way, use the ❌ reaction to say so. If you get this reaction, back off and drop it.
